On with my journey. There was the house to close up before leaving. Since I won't be back for sometime, this meant getting rid of food and cleaning and wrapping things and putting things in plastic containers, plus closing the hurricane shutters. I have to do all this because I never know what will happen. Having had three hurricanes hit us so far, when I leave, I leave with the thought that it might all be gone. It only takes one big storm surge to come through and....
OK on to the good stuff. Les and I had one last walk on the beach which proved great because Les was finally able to find a good sized blue shell. She has been looking and wanting one for a very long time. Since the hurricanes, we haven't really had many shells at all. So, now the shells are back. Great!
After our walk, we gathered the things together to take back up north with us. Of course, it was mostly all my things. I just want to say much thanks to Paul for packing up the van. He did a great job. We were ready to head off. This was around noon on Sunday. We drove straight up through Florida on 95. I normally take 10 to 75 but there were still fires burning and those roads were being randomly closed for smoke.
Love bugs are lots of fun to drive through. For a great picture see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_bug.
They are very hard to remove from your window shield and front of your car. Their bodies have something that eats through the paint, so you want them gone as quickly as possible. They were everywhere as we drove. We did stop for removal a few times. Finally, around 9:00 pm (21:00 hours) we stopped for the night in Clinton, South Carolina. A small town of about 8000 people. Very nice Hampton Inn.
The bathroom.
Next day, we were off to the Baltmore Estates in Ashville, North Carolina.
